Doll Giveaway: CLEO


MamAmor's Facebook Page has reached 5000 likes today and we want to celebrate!

CLEO is our giveaway doll for this occasion, she is one of a kind Birthing and Breastfeeding MamAmor Doll. As all MamAmor Dolls, she was made with a lot of Vit L (love) and attention to details by many of us at MamAmor's Team. She wears a lovely spring dress made by mama helper Lisa and a pair of cotton shoes crocheted by mama helper Graciela. Cleo's hair was made using beautiful merino, alpaca and felt wools. She can give birth and breastfeed her newborn baby....many times, and anywhere!

It's funny that you would post this message today. I only recently found out about the MamaAmor dolls and fell instantly in love with them. I shared the link instantly with all 3400 facebook fans. I can help spread the word about MamaAmor dolls by showing them off at the health dept where I am a lactation specialist, or at the LLL meetings I lead, or at the 10 meetings I do monthly with expectant mothers at the birthing project I run, At my free community baby showers, free childbirth classes, free breastfeeding classes, natural childbirth classes, with my doula clients-both birth and postpartum and with everyone else I meet. I hope I can get this doll because I have been coveting one since I found the site. I will gladly pay the shipping if I win. I guess this post got a little long. anyway please pick me please please. If I had a MamAmor Doll I would spead the word by taking her with me to clients houses for teaching and prenatal visits so the parents to be and their little ones could play/teach with her. I would gush to everyone that would listen that I finally own one of these amazing dolls and if you would send me advertising materials I would happily give them to people and direct them to the website. I would love to have some cards or flyers to put in my client paks, becuase I think MANY pregnant mommas could use these dolls to help siblings understand birth and so the little ones have a pregnant momma of their very own. Sorry this is so long lol, I just have a lot of ideas I REALLY want moms and little kids to have access to these amazing dolls :)

That and many women feel uncomfortable culturally to nurse in public and do not know about pumping milk in the alternative to feed when in public.

Anyway, I am a early years teacher and I would let my class see it and talk about it in the baby role play area we have (under supervision, the doll is too beautiful for 3 year olds to man handle!)and I would also use it as a talking point when I would let my son play with it while we are out in public here (where I sometimes breastfeed publicly very, very discreetly).

Letting the child/children play with her and seeing how she gives birth and breadtfeeds will allow them to visualize their mommy doing the same thing with the new baby coming. My youngest son loves to watch babies heing born on those television shows and they are all very pro-breastfeeding and talk about it often with adults as well as other children. I also volunteer with pregnant mothers who are considering natural birth and breastfeeding and am part of a breastfeeding support group. I would use the MamAmor doll to show various birth, breastfeeding, and babywearing positions to these mamas (mine are far too old now to use in these meetings lol)

I can help spread the word about MamAmor Dolls by doing many things. First, I can continue to support and share information about MamAmor on social media sites (such as Facebook, Blogs and Twitter). I can also bring Cleo to CBE classes and to meetings with doula clients. However, while spreading MamAmor's message in natural childbirth and breastfeeding-friendly circles will be easy, I feel Cleo's most important work will take place in the urban hospital where I work as a Labor and Delivery RN. Cleo will help provide a medium for which I can discuss the importance of breastfeeding and bonding with my patients - many of whom are teenage mothers and live in a community that isn't supportive of breastfeeding. Cleo will help act as the intermediary to help patients understand this very important message. I can't wait for Cleo to come to Baltimore!
